BII Provides $7 Million Facility to Expand Off-Grid Solar Connections in Nigeria
On 29 October 2026, British International Investment announced a $7 million debt facility for Okra Solar to accelerate mesh-grid electricity projects, primarily in rural Nigeria. The financing will support equipment procurement for approximately 150,000 new connections, with the potential to provide electricity to around 750,000 people. The facility is working-capital financing for equipment purchases rather than a direct grant to households. Renewable-energy developers, utilities and infrastructure operators can explore solar performance monitoring, battery analytics and energy-system modelling. HPC can support energy data processing and infrastructure planning; contact HPC for a quotation tailored to your project.
